Summary
This Project required us to research the work of 3 artists for an exhibition. Choose a minimum of 1 piece of art to represent each artist. It was suggested that the 3 pieces of artwork chosen should be contrasting in subject matter although they can be from the same genre. The packaging chosen should be an unusual and creative format.

I choose to present work of 3 Surrelist Artsists and 1 Surrelist writer as to understand Surrelism one has also to understand the writings of its authors. The artists I have chosen are Meret Oppenheim, Salvador Dali and Hans Bellmer and writing by Annie Le Brun. Oppenheim’s attempts at asserting women’s position as creative subjects, Dali’s sexual inhibition and subsequent metamorphosis and Bellmer’s exploration of transgressive sexuality provide a powerful crucible from which to explore what Desire and Delirium meant to the Surrealists. Annie le Brun's critique on Hans Bellmer helps to clarify surrealism from a feminist perpespective.

My primary concern in developing the packaging in support of the artists and author was to enable the audience to engage in a surrealistic process in the manner similer to the surrealists. The merchandise and the way it is viewed, represents a progession from an intellectual understanding, to safe desire to transgressive desire and deliberium.
In order to allow the audience to explore their own relationship with Desire and Delirium in a non rational manner.

In order to engage the audience in this way I have developed a welcome card, a fur lined box containing theme information in the inside lid, sponsor chocolates representing safe desire and a Game of chance which showcases the work of the artists and invites the audience to view the exhibition by randomly choosing cards, providing the unconcious with an oppurtunity to manifest itself.

The packaging devloped is presented as photographs of the 3D output and flat art work where applicable. The workbook associated with this project is titled 'Packaging Workbook'

This card cracked a little when folding and I had not time to reprint. Also due to attempting to photograph in natural light the card is darker than the printed version.

This card got slightly damaged at the edges when wrapping the chain, during the build. Also had a few problems with photography due to trying natural lighting and once again no time to re-photograph.
