MAP 1: SANCTIMONY SOUTH-AFRICA
Mapping aggressive capitalist expansion and corruption in South Africa.

Capitalism as an economic and political system fosters banal evil by incentivising the pursuit of endless expansion and wealth and disregarding anyone and anything that compromises the bottom line. Moreover, this system of power is blind to other intrinsic values of life found in non-westernised cultures. This map visually presents how compounding expansion in capitalism leads to a waste society, burying the inherent value of life under mountains of industrialisation, war and redundant technology. As a result, the pile of trash keeps growing, and whatever value came before is unrecognisable.
MAP 2: THE GARDEN OF IDENTITY
A map of gender identity as a permaculture garden.

In this map, I created an ethereal permaculture garden that draws parallels to gender and gender identity and ties them to the mapping concepts of guidance, exploration, and discovery. The permaculture-sectioned zones feed into some fundamental part of the garden’s function, and gender has countless obscure facets that compound on one another to make a unique human being. The concepts of mapping, gender identity and permaculture gardening are congruous in presenting a picture of my “gender identity map” that I am constantly nurturing.
