This is a series of 10 illustrations of Dante Aghilieris Divine Comedy that I created during my masters degree illustration course in 2020.

The cover presents the reader with the general gist of the story, which is our main protagonist Dante, running from beasts that symbolise pride, lust and avarice. He is clinging to his guide Virgil, that is showing him the way to salvation (heaven) where Dantes true love Beatrice resides. She represents hope, cleansing of sins and purity.

First three illustrations depict story scenes of hell, second three depict purgatory and the last three are visions of heaven.
Here is a flip-through of a book prototype as i first envisioned it (Book cover was updated later).
