One of the last projects I have had the pleasure to work on with Icone Production for Van Cleef & Arpels before moving to Switzerland, home of fine watchmaking.

I was in charge of creating the Heures Florales Cerisier timepiece.

Everything done in 3dsmax / vray.

Each and every piece of the case and dial have been remodeled by hand for the always awe inspiring handpolished look.

The lacker is also modeled for the volume; without it, everything is flat.

First grid are test pictures, where you can see some white butterflies and white mother of pearl still at the original STEP format before remodeling and shading.

As the project carried on, I switched the VrayMtl used for the different lacquers with some SSS for added depth on the butterflies and the petals.

Second set of pictures for validation at the time of the project, some color may have changed at the client discretion after production.

Notice the flat wings of the STEP butterflies. At some point, the craftman will polish the piece, set the stone, bend the wings at the correct position then, lacquer it for the final touch.

Engravings on the case back done with Zbrush and applied as a displacement map.

All pictures directly from VFB with only minimum grading (global curves and the occasional glint), no photoshop retouching.

For once, no final HD renders, sorry !!
