Editorial Design
This session was an introduction to editorial design and grid formation. After our lecture, we had a series of tasks. My first task was to create a hand rendered magazine spread out of existing magazines. Using a supplied grid, the focus was to think about layout, hierarchy of design and text placement. I decided to use imagery to be my main focus with simplified sections of text. I decided to use sections of the Dazed And Confused: Dark Arts magazine as the imagery and typography really inspired me and helped to get my creative thinking flowing.
These are some photos I took when experimenting with layout and presentation with the typography and imagery that I chose.
This is a scanned in photo of my final double page spread.

Digital Design
After working on a hand rendered design, my next task was to choose a creative individual who inspires me. I decided to focus on Stanley Kubrick. Using a found editorial piece online, I designed a double page spread using elements of his style.
