This is a mockup of a dashboard type interface for our web application that we tested with our end users to determine if it was a viable solution to the many problems our users were voicing to us. The goal was to increase our user’s situational awareness with regard to the college application process. Each counselor is responsible for a number of students, sometimes in the hundreds. With each student submitting multiple documents at different time intervals, the process can be overwhelming, frustrating and cumbersome. The current system in place was fragmented and required our end users to improvise ways to improve their workflow. Some used spreadsheets, others used whiteboards, filing systems or good old pen and paper.
