Αφυταίων Γαία | Rebranding
"Afytaion Gaia" [land of Afytos] is a small family winnery in Afytos, Chalkidiki, Greece. I was asked to help create a visual identity that suits best for the new era of the winnery.
So here we are.
Afytos is a small village in Chalkidiki with stone houses and cobblestone roads that make the village look like it is a place in a Aigean island and not at the Greek mainland. So we have decided to use the stone pattern in the winnery's brand identity.
The first thing that needed to be transformed was the winnery's logo. The old logo represented the sun of Chalkidiki as it rose in the sky. It was a nice idea but it had a certain problem: It couldnt be used in every single bottle because of its lack in versatility. The winnery needed to use gold and silver printed logos in the bottles, or at least use one main color for every wine variety. So, we have finaly came to a logo that still had the sun rising, it is more modern or at least following the present era and can be used in many different colors and prints. So, at first look it might look...strange but try to imagine it in a bottle using silver print.
About the fond. The winnery didnt want to change it.They insisted on that.
After the logo we had to take care of the wine labels. The winnery wanted a simple but unique wine label which will represent the village. In this way, anyone who sees the bottle and know about Afytos will understand everything. So we have decided to use the stone pattern mentioned above. We had to show the stones and the beachfront of Afytos.
One of the issues we faced was that from 2022 a serial number and a QR code had to be added in the back label in every bottle. Space was limitted.
Following the idea we have created three different wine labels. The labels are going to be printed in silver and gold.
Pattern was adopted to cards, signs ect
