Japan Cloud - Website Animations

Japan Cloud
Conceptual Animations

Japan Cloud partners with companies who want to expand into Japan. Traditionally, it’s extremely difficult for foreign businesses to successfully enter the Japanese market; local business practices are unfamiliar, and language and cultural barriers are high.

Upstatement asked me to make some animations for 3 different concepts. The goal was to add visual interest and original illustration/animation to the brand and site. These would mainly add atmosphere and interest to the site since many of Japan Cloud’s core offerings were not easily represented. The task was to use semi-abstract animation that would help tell their story, with a cerebral yet warm, thoughtful feel.

The aesthetic concept was clear: soft edges, restrained colors, and dreamy, subtle textures combined with geometric shapes and abstract concepts to build a slightly unexpected, understated, high-end atmosphere. Satisfying, smart, slightly quirky movements of each animation story should be engaging and smooth, inviting visitors in to further explore.

Concept A:
Scaling and Growing as Partners

Two entities coming together to develop and expand. Japan Cloud supports foreign companies to both of their benefits.

Concept B:
Operational excellence
Corporate methodology and a coordinated, ever-improving team, everyone in the company is empowered to maximize value for the customer at every point in the process.

In this animation, the squares and circles work together in a systematic and coordinated way. The idea is to represent the work process (the grid), where each member of the company (the blocks) gives their best.

Concept C:
Don’t go it alone
Without Japan Cloud help, foreign companies would struggle to balance too many things. This speaks to the fact that when foreign companies attempt to enter the Japanese
market, there’s a very high failure rate.

The circle tries to keep its balance. The items above the circle are larger because they represent the enormous challengeof entering the Japanese market. The circle never stops moving because it fails to manage things and achieve the right balance.
