The Penguin Plays Rough Book of Short Stories
Penguin Plays Rough is a short fiction live reading night held in a Sydney warehouse each month, where imaginatively wild and original writers, at all stages of development, are invited to read to a live audience.
This anthology is a collection of 23 of these stories read over the past few years. Our approach to the book was to capture the energy of these live readings, rather than in a static, ordinary format. To bring PPR’s raw energy and life into the book, we designed each story in a different way, using different materials each time, on and off the computer, embracing the craft and the process, and creating a vivid, noisy catalogue of these wonderfully wild stories.
