Vino Galerie leaning wine storage and display for Wine Enthusiast.
Collecting wine is both personal and social. Throughout the process of designing the Vino Galerie rack for Wine Enthusiast, I came to realize the impact this dichotomy has on curating and collecting wine. As a moderate collector, I believe that wine is a way to chronicle and express different chapters of my life, sharing my experiences of the world through the pouring of wine with close friends and family.

The Vino Galerie is meant to function equally well in a living space and wine cellar. Because of this, I incorporated a residential furniture aesthetic which lead to the leaning frame design solution. Once the profile of the piece was found, I started to incorporate details that supported the primary thesis of dichotomy and balance. Each shelf is made of solid wood which allowed us to mill simple channels as a way of orienting wine bottles of varying dimensions. The shelves then incorporate a bent metal rod that functions to triangulate and support the shelf as well as acting as a rear stop. Finally, this design incorporates a mix of dense storage and bottle presentation. In every collection, there are often those special bottles that one you want to highlight, be it a favorite of the moment, or your most storied bottle. The Vino Galerie rack allows one to easily give these special bottles pride of place by positioning them on the upper shelves and at eye level, labels-out.

The materials of the Vino Galerie are designed to last. Solid wood shelves, powder-coated metal structure and uprights, and strong mechanical connections all support a system that will last and grow with you over time. The design works equally well as a single rack or in multiples which you can add as your collection grows.
