This series of portraits of Marina Abramovic was created by expanding upon the in-camera techniques explored in my previous bodies of work. These photos were taken while Marina illustrated her Abramovic Method —a series of exercises designed to increase awareness and experience in the moment. In these photographs, I utilize time-distortion, doubling, and rephotography to visually illustrate this meditative and focused state of consciousness.

Marina is currently creating the Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI) in a 33,000 square foot space in Hudson, New York. The institute will focus on the study and preservation of time-based and immaterial art as well as explore connections between art, science, technology, and spirituality. Please visit MAI to learn how you can help support this vision.
