Sabão Macaco is a Coimbra based band that formed in January of 2011. The 3 members compose and decompose themes from the portuguese oral tradition, loading it with influences from various 20th century music movements. The result is a hard to pinpoint, but extremely unique mixture, with a well defined identity.

 

O Romance da Maria Rita is their debut full length album. Having a clear idea for their vision, the band charged me with creating a representation of their MO - heavy rooted, but heavily deconstructed and contemporary music.

 

Working with a white canvas allowed me to incarnate both the designer and the illustrator, which is a place where I am very confortable.
