Boxes were constructed out of 3/4" ply, with legs made of scrap hardwood, screwed on from the inside. All edges rounded with a round over router bit. Staple holes were puttied and both units sanded. Non mortise hinges were used for the lid for a low profile look, and handhold cutouts added for easy movement on set. Base painted with Rosco paints and grained with two mixes of Saman water-based stain, water, and satin Varathane with a 2" chip brush. The whole look was sealed with satin Varathane.
