Understanding Urbanisation

Staying in urban cities one realizes that whatever we see, is often a superficial view. We are just looking at the surface of it, and the surface can be misleading.
The idea of good life and big money pulls people towards the metropolis but they become slaves of the system. The new migrant to the city may be mislead by the superficial aspect, but soon comes to realize its undercurrent and difficulties.
Till very recently India had four large cities. There has been an increase in the number of cities in India and many from the village have migrated to these cities. What makes people want to migrate to cities?
Clearly, life in cities appears easier than in the village, for cities have jobs, food, entertainment etc. Farming is an extremely difficult and non- profitable business. many in village do not have
their own land. And therefore the city is an alternate option for large number of people.
How ever what are the consequence of such urbanization? The most obvious outcome is the huge strain on the urban infrastructure. Water, sanitation, transportation are always a problem. Roads are clogged, healthcare and health is deteriorating. It appears that there is a limit a city can sustain.
