Stroopwafel - Branding & Packaging

STROOPWAFEL BY HOMEPICK

Homepick, a popular pickle brand, approached us to create an identity for a product that was new to the Indian consumer. A popular treat from the Netherlands, a stroopwafel has a smooth layer of stroop – or syrup – sandwiched between two thin layers of baked dough.
In contrast to the more illustrative approach taken by most supermarket food brands, we took a bold approach to the packaging design with a real photo of a stroopwafel luring the customer and telling them exactly what the product inside looks like. The colour palette veers towards pastels to invoke the dreaminess associated with indulgences, positioning the product strongly in the dessert segment that Indians favour for personal consumption as also for gifting purposes. The custom packaging copy and design further serve to educate the shopper on how to correctly enjoy a stroopwafel and have an authentically Dutch experience.
