At the edge of Meerhoven you find Waterrijk, a green estate, which is characterized by patches of woodland and meadows, with nearby parks and lakes. Living in Waterrijk is quiet and suburban, yet only 15 minutes away from Eindhoven city center. Buyers can buy plots to the size of their liking on which they can realize their dream house. The planners allow a large degree of freedom with regard to architecture in Waterrijk, which is unique for the region.

 

As an architect at bygg architecture I have developed a comfortable forest family house, together with contractor J. Lamers, especially suiting the plots on the estate. The home provides comfortable outdoor family living, which may be very appealing for ex-pat families as well. The design is contemporary, but with a warm Scandinavian touch, by using sustainable pine wood as the material for facades and roofs.

The house has a spacious layout, yet the footprint stays compact, providing maximum garden experience, even on a smaller plot. The long rectangular shape has been split into a ‘front’ and a ‘back’ house, connected by a ‘bridge’. The voids between the front and the back house thus become an entrance zone and a private patio, that opens towards the garden.

By orienting the main living areas around that patio, the house is bathed in light, air and space, while keeping maximum privacy with regard to neighbors. The house has a large living area in the front and luxury kitchen/dining area in the back; Four bedrooms and two bathrooms are available on the next floor.
