Chappies Bubblegum is an iconic South African brand famous for two things – its great taste and the interesting facts found inside its wrappers. Or as South Africans like to call them, Did You Knows. So when we were asked to come up with 250 new facts for the wrappers, we thought, why not give South Africa the job instead?
Together with our PR department, and Ogilvy & Mather creative studio we created a Direct Mail piece that was sent to both traditional media and online personalities. The media kit featured a personalised Chappies wrapper with a little-known Did You Know about the recipient printed on the inside. We even made one for Chappies Super Fan, Die Antwoord’s Yolandi Vi$er, whose Facebook post about the media drop generated over 6800 likes.
This project was awarded a Campaign Bronze at the 2013 Loerie Awards in the category PR Communicaton.
