Anglers Mail Feature

Last year I was asked by Angler Mail Magazine if I would like to shoot and write a Action Replay feature for them. I gave a ring to a friend of mine Scott Callison and we headed down to a local lake on a cold morning after some winter carp. Scott fished incredibly well and managed to catch some fantastic fish. The guys on the mag were very pleased with the photos and writing and all-in-all the job went very brilliantly.

"In the warmer months you would usually find Scott Callison frequenting the banks of a big fish syndicate somewhere in Essex. However, in the colder months the long nights and difficult conditions steer Scott to a different type of venue. Scott explains “In the Winter it’s always great fun to be behind the rods wishing for a bite on a difficult venue but for many anglers, myself included, it’s difficult to justify the time needed to catch a fish. For this reason I prefer to fish short day sessions opting to tackle a slightly easier venue. As the sessions are shorter you really have to work for a bite and maximise every second on the bank. I find, putting the effort in to catch one makes the end result very enjoyable”

“Todays venue is Churchgate Fishery in Battlesbridge, Essex. It has three lakes on the complex so it’s possible that if the first lake isn’t fishing terribly well I can always try another one without too much hastle. With plenty of fish from single figures to mid thirties it’s a great venue for a winter bite”
