I've started to illustrate a new book an will share illustrations here as they come. The book is called "Ferocious Holyman" and is written by Dmitry Deitch. The text is a treasure, but available only to those who can read Russian:

This one is called "Seeds of dreams". It's about a succubus wife of a character - she feeds on seeds of his dreams, which is the reason he hasn't slept for two years.

Illustration depicting various demons. The text describes how demons can take shape of the most ordinary things and beings, however one can always tell a demon due to some conspicuous flaw. There will be text accompanying each image.
The first illustration uploaded in this project is about how the character's wife is found out to be a succubus feeding on his dreams. However, there are different kinds of demons, and according to the text, they differ in food preferences geographically as well. Some eat stomach gases, some - smell of burning trees, some - water evaporations, some demon gourmets adore the odour of dirty bodies, some devour human death, and some feed on the sparkles of gold and silver, some eat jewish fear, and lastly - some savor human fate (the two-headed one that's eating with his bottom:)
