"The Journey"
Foundation graphic design & illustration pathway
Brief: sequential illustration - telling a story through imagery, using a story or our own narrative
The character takes a physical train journey while it also represents a metaphorical journey
My narrative explores the idea of enjoying the present rather than focusing on the future

Process of creating my sequential illustration
Thumbnail sketches, narrative planning, inspiration research, style experimentation
Drawing the outcome in Procreate

Redesigning a set of book covers
Foundation graphic design & illustration pathway
Brief: Designs should be able to stand alone and also hold together as a set of three

Idea generation in sketchbook
I began with a mind map for each story, including imagery relating to each book, and progressed my ideas into thumbnail cover designs
Process of creating my book covers
Further thumbnail sketches of how the three books would look as a series.
Having selected my strongest set, I drew templates on Procreate as a guide for my linocuts.
After carving and printing the lino, I scanned my prints and then edited and refined them in Photoshop, and developed text and colour in Illustrator.

Foundation graphic design week - group project

Our chosen topics: social media, cost of living crisis, climate crisis
Woodblock letterpress printing

Foundation fashion & textiles week - group project
Brief: make a sustainable outfit from used garments - we focused on using denim
We all individually sketched ideas and then collaborated to make the final outfit
Fineliner, watercolour & collage
After the project, I was inspired by our outfit to experiment with some different styles of fashion illustrations

Two of my final outcomes from my A Level Graphic Design project
Fictional travel brand "Oak & Acorns" promoting UK woodland holidays to families
Fineliner, watercolour & paper cut

Artist inspiration
Creating illustrations using mark making and hand painted textures

A range of drawings from my sketchbook

I like to use Procreate to doodle and practise using textured brushes
The subject matters are usually spontaneous, whatever is inspiring me in that moment
I sometimes use these drawings as a good starting point for future self-initiated projects
Pattern making
I really enjoy turning my illustrations into patterns to see them in a whole new format
Left: a linoprint block made into a repeat pattern in Photoshop
Middle & Right: pattern swatches derived from illustrations drawn on Procreate
A quick drawing on Procreate
Face studies using HB & 6B pencils on Procreate
