ICELAND ON FILM
CAPTURING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FALL COLOURS OF THÓRSMÖRK
As a photographer, I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to push my creative boundaries and explore different methods of capturing the world around me. When it comes to shooting landscapes and adventures in some of the most remote and beautiful places on earth, nowadays I find myself turning to the simplicity and elegance of analog cameras. There's something magical about shooting with film that I just can't get enough of. That's why one or two analog cameras are always with me during my commissioned works, just like they were in 2019 when I worked for Volcano HutsOut in the wild, trekking through the rugged terrain of Thósmörk in Iceland, taking in all the stunning views and capturing them in a way that feels true to the experience. That's where my trusty analog cameras come in.

And don't even get me started on the film grain. With digital, everything looks so clean and perfect. But with film, there's this added depth and texture that just makes the images look so much more alive. But it's not all about the final product. Shooting with film cameras also means I get to be hands-on and tactile with my process, which is a feeling that's hard to come by in the digital age. It's like writing a letter by hand instead of typing it out on a computer. Sure, it might take a little longer, but the end result is so much more satisfying.

So, I'm sharing some of my analog photos from my 2019 trip to Thósmörk, Iceland, taken with Olympus Mju II and Minolta Hi-Matic F, shot on Fuji C200 and Ilford Pan 400. I hope these behind-the-scenes shots give you a sense of what it's like to be out in the wilderness with me, fiddling with my cameras and seeing the world through a different lens. And who knows, maybe I'll inspire you to dust off your own film camera and see what kind of magic you can create!
