The Hobbit Calendar

Here is a sneak peek to:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Calendar

This is perpetual calender I made based on the movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpect Journey.
The basis for this project is working mainly on typography and hand-lettering.
There are many layers, but three main sections that each include landmarks,
character, and part of the actual calander (month, week, day).
The concept of the project came from the famous quote "there and back again."
I took the idea of a resuable calendar and mashed it together with traveling and adventure
from the story. So I ended up with the vision of characters (like Thorin and Company as one)
going around notable places from the books (ie Erebor and the Shire).
The project also includes packaging and other hand-lettering.

NOTE:
I apologize for the terrible image.
I will be taking proper photographs of the actual calendar, so more and BETTER pictures to come!
From left to right: (1) "Seal of Smaug" sticker for possibly securing the box, (2) collateral piece with a segment of the first chapter of the Hobbit, (3) collateral piece with type lockup, (4) box, (5) calendar mounted on board
Packaging. Uses a 4-petal pocket fold.
Type lockup as a collateral piece. "One does not simply go on an adventure unplanned."
Landmarks: Laketown and Woodland Realms
One of the character layers: Gandalf!

Wheel for the months. Hand-done type.
