▪️The Nasdaq continues to move from one key level to the next and is heavily driven by technical traders as investors are now mainly waiting for directional cues again for now - especially the Fed meeting minutes which will be released in ~30 minutes. 

 

▪️Overall Wall Street is a strong underperformer in comparison to other stock market indices. The DAX 🇩🇪 and CAC 🇫🇷 closed much higher today and other other European stock market indices rose by more than 1.4% (FTSE MIB 🇮🇹, WIG20 🇵🇱, SMI 🇨🇭, AEX 🇳🇱). Even stronger we saw Chinese stocks, in particular the tech heavy Hang Seng which closed more than 3.22% higher and continued to rise in after-hours trading with Chinese tech stocks, such as Alibaba, JD, Tencent, NetEase, Baidu, NIO trading sharply higher (also in New York).

 

▪️The Nasdaq is weighed down by heavy losses in the most heavily weighted stock: Microsoft. I think further losses are limited and expect Microsoft to recover at least half of today's losses in the next 24 - 48 hours (similar to Apple yesterday/today).

 

▪️The Nasdaq fell back to the key 10900 level after reaching resistance at 11000. I expect the Nasdaq to remain bullish overall and break out above 11000 - also supported by very strong gains in Europe and China (Hong Kong).

 

▪️We can re-enter the Nasdaq near our previous SL (10944.70) or wait for more volatility on the release of the Fed meeting minutes, which will probably give us the opportunity to enter in the current lower range (10820 - 10890). I do not expect a big surprise from the minutes, as Fed Chair Powell and other Fed officials already expressed themselves very restrictive (hawkish) in past statements.
