Dreaming of Your Daily Bread

Having to design and create a poster based on the topic of daily bread for an audience of surrealists, this project gave me an opportunity to experiment with more analogue as well as digital approaches into graphic design.

With the concept of the poster being to advertise blue bread to surrealists, I decided to have a go at making blue bread myself; the only difference to a standard white bread recipe being to knead blue food colouring into the dough. After this, I then photographed the blue bread down Botany Bay in Broadstairs, using Photoshop to scale the bread in proportion with the beach's ancinet clifftops, and then adjusting the colours slightly using a colour balance adjustment layer.

Furthermore, in order to help surrealists distinguish the bread from the clifftops, and to make them realise that this is an advertisement, I decided to include my own made-up company and strapline; the company being 'Pain Bleu,' meaning blue bread in French and the strapline being 'dreaming of your daily bread.' More pictures are to follow.
