“Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan” is a timeless message from a poem written by Dr. Jose Rizal. That’s why it’s important that the youth has access to quality education. The knowledge gained inside the classroom is useful, but the most valuable lessons are often learned outside of it. It’s time to encourage the youth to go beyond their classrooms, be aware of the issues of our society, get involved in nation building, and lead the country towards a brighter future.
This digital artwork is an entry to the 2022 digital art category of Pinta ng Bukas: The HeArtful Project, a fundraising art competition organized by Caritas Manila Scholars Association. The theme was "Youth Servant Leadership and Education Towards Nation Building".
I used the colors of the Philippine flag for the palette. The background is drawn so that it'll seem like the crowd is storming out of a box. The student wearing a white school uniform pays respect to the flag as she leads the people out. In the process, she spreads the light of hope.
