The Eyes of the Skin

While we only see in one direction, limited to the aperture of the eye, our hearing sensors are stimulated from all sides and any sources surrounding us. The helmet, prototyped with paper cups, aims to enclose these stimuli in a micro-environment, in which one is able to experience hearing and seeing oneself.

The sight is captured and frozen in its own reflection as an open eye with mirrors placed at the ends of the eye cones, while the hearing of touch is amplified through the rest. This short experiment aims to alter our perceptions of space and provoke wonder and surprise.
