There were many contenders for the 5A state title, but who ultimately prevailed? You can also check out the other teams that advanced to the championship round in addition to the two main teams. North Augusta, Dutch Fork, and Fort Dorchester are examples. All of these institutions have an equal shot at victory.
On Saturday, the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes won the 5A state championship game with a 47-10 victory over the Fort Dorchester Panthers. The Silver Foxes have now reached the state championship game for the seventh time in the last eight years thanks to this victory. The Silver Foxes lost to Gaffney in the previous year's state final.
On August 18, this season's squad will make the trip to Hough, North Carolina. After playing in Charlotte and Atlanta, two non-regional opponents, they won't be back in Houston until 2022.
The game-deciding turnover occurred at a crucial juncture. The Dorman Cavaliers scored a touchdown with 19 seconds remaining. The Cavaliers would have gained much more yardage if not for Dutch Fork's tenacious defense. Their point total was their lowest in two years.
The first period ended with Dutch Fork up 13-0. Meanwhile, the Silver Foxes outscored Fort Dorchester by 20 points in the second half. In addition, the defense was successful in recovering three fumbles.
Aliam Appler, the quarterback, passed for 214 yards and three touchdowns. He added 116 more yards on foot. Isaiah Jones caught four of his passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.
A school from the South Carolina Lowcountry with a long tradition of success has won the 5A state title. Dutch Fork played on that team. With a final record of 14 wins and 1 defeat, the Silver Foxes had a stellar season. In the postseason, they had a point differential of more than 30 against their competition.
The final score was 47–10 in their favor over Fort Dorchester. They've now won seven state championships in the last ten years. Now, Tom Knotts can add 14 state titles to his resume. He has been named the best high school football coach in the United States.
After being down by 20 points at halftime, the Silver Foxes only led by 10 early in the third quarter after Fort Dorchester scored 10 unanswered points. The only touchdown scored by Fort Dorchester came on their first possession of the third quarter.
One play later, Isaiah Jones of Dutch Fork caught a touchdown pass that went for 68 yards. The play resulted in the most points scored by either team that game.
Also, senior running back Jarvis Green racked up 290 yards and four touchdowns for the Silver Foxes. In addition, he passed all seven attempts. Aliam Appler, the senior quarterback, also scored twice on the ground.

Not all of these contests will be shown on television, but they will all be available on the NFHS Network. Forty-four state championships are broadcast live on the network.
