In this project I was assigned to make a poster for a music festival. Since Bluegrass music is bar none the highest art form and greatest style of music I naturally chose the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Telluride is a mountain town in Colorado that rests at 8,750 feet elevation and thus lends itself naturally to that "High Lonesome Sound" originally created by Bill Monroe. I wanted this poster to flaunt one of the staple instruments of bluegrass music; the banjo. In addition to the instrument I also wanted to incorporate the use of varied styles and sizes of typography found in old west and turn of the century poster design.
