Into Thin Air, a mixed-media sculpture that forms an urban aerial archive and floating microbial ecosystem. It consists of an impressive curtain of thousands of petri dishes, which trap invisible particles in the air and thus present the microbial footprint of this park. As a cross-section of layers of air, the work visualizes that the Goffert Park is a dynamic ecosystem, where, in addition to human inhabitants and the built environment, a diversity of other invisible inhabitants is present.

By making this shared reality visible, visitors become aware of the invisible companion animals that continuously surround us. This sheds new light on the relationship between our bodies and our environment, allowing us to rethink what it means to be human
Into Thin Air is commissioned by Stichting Schemerlicht and was developed in collaboration with Studio Smink.
