Here I am using High dynamic range photography. This is where three or more photos are taken in the manual setting but in each of the pictures you change the exposure.
To get the high detail one set of pictures is taken on a low exposure, another on the correct or 'perfect' exposure' and the final set under exposed. By layering these up using a program like photomatix the above results can be acheived.
