Ted Boesky is a retired educator who graduated with a master's in arts in history from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York. Earlier in his education, Ted Boesky completed his undergraduate studies at Manhattanville College, where he captained the varsity soccer and tennis teams.

53 years have passed since a male professional tennis player earned the Grand Slam title. Novak Djokovic, the former world number one men's tennis player, had the chance to complete the feat in 2021. Professional tennis players must win the four major tennis tournaments in the same year, Wimbledon, the Australian Open, US Open, and the French Open, to become members of the elite Grand Slam holders club. Aside from the US Open, where he was defeated by Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, Djokovic won three titles in 2021.

The only two male tennis players to complete a Grand Slam are Don Budge and Rod Laver. Rod accomplished the feat twice, in 1962 and 1969, while Don achieved it in 1938. Overall, only five professional tennis players hold a Grand Slam, including women players Steffi Graf, Margaret Court, and Maureen Connolly.
