The  Golden Gate of San Francisco
Though not my typical landscape series, I've always been fascinated by this bridge.....partly because of its captivating color, and also because of the way the ever changing atmosphere alters the way that it appears as seen from different angles.  I had a chance to go to California, and top on my list was to photograph this bridge,  Summertime is typically when the bridge becomes shrouded in fog, but I was blessed with a nice storm blowing through on my last day there., hence a few moody scenes.

A few interesting facts on this bridge:
It is the 2nd longest suspension bridge, spanning 8,981 feet total, with its longest span at 4,200 feet.  Construction began in January, 1933 and was completed in April, 1937.  Prior to this, ferry service had been crossing the bay since 1820, ferrying water and other goods to San Francisco.  The two suspension cables are 3 feet thick, with 27,572 individual wires in each one.  Over 80,000 miles of wire was used in the two cables.   An average of 110,000 cars cross the bridge every day.

I've seen plenty of photographs of this bridge, but I had to have my own, along with a small army of other photographers that I witnessed at the bridge.  Thank you for looking at my work.
