Talking with Type | Typographic Compositions

A book of Seven TYPOGRAPHIC COMPOSITION of a Marathi Poem using
'Anek' font by 'Ek Type'

Each depicting one principle of design.
The cover :
I've chosen a marathi poem by Vaibhav Joshi titled 'Pimpalpaan'. It paints a picture about old age & death by metaphorically comparing it to the withering of the peepal leaf.
It beautifully describes the spirit of life & yet how passing away can be embraced just like setting of the sun.
1. Balance
balance is achieved through typography by breaking the lines & placing them alternatively on both the sides
2. Contrast
different weight and size for some elements along with arrangement is used to create contrast in the composition
3. Hierarchy
hierarchy is depicted using difference in point size & placement of the text. lines that convey the essence of the poem in one glance are made prominent through play of size & arrangement
4. Rhythm
I've depicted rhythm by arranging some letterforms as if a leaf falling from a tree dancing along the wind
5. Foreground - Background
a texture resembling the intricate pattern on a leaf is created through letterforms & used as a background for the title. A high point size '.' is used at the end to symbolize end of life
6. Pattern
a typographic pattern is visible by grouping lines, & using different font styles(Anek devanagari condensed thin, Anek devanagari medium)
7. Altered meaning
by emphasizing on a few words like हिरवगार (greenery), प्रेम (love), आभाळ (sky) & गाण(song), at first this may appear as a poem about nature or love
