Tips for Chess

Despite the attractive nature of the metal that tools have, we are usually busy hiding tools in toolboxes or drawers. "Tips for Chess" is a design concept that combines the way you store tips for tools with a game called chess. Based on the functionality of existing tools, we present a new tool design that can be kept closer and longer in our lives by giving a new context of play.
공구가 지닌 금속이라는 매력적인 물성에도 불구하고 우리는 평소 공구를 그저 공구함이나 서랍속에 숨기기에 급급하다. “Tips for Chess”는 공구의 팁을 보관하는 방식에 체스를 결합한 디자인 컨셉이다. 기존에 공구가 지닌 기능성을 바탕으로 놀이라는 새로운 맥락을 부여함으로써 우리 생활 속에서 더 가깝게, 더 오래 둘 수 있는 새로운 공구 디자인을 제시한다.
The main material of the product is metal, and the black compartments and objects on the chessboard are distinguished from white through paint. The handle and chess coordinate system are fixed to the bottom plate of the chessboard through a magnet and can be used independently according to the user's needs.
제품의 주 소재는 금속으로 체스판의 흑색 칸과 기물은 페인트 도장을 통해 백색과 구분된다. 손잡이와 체스 좌표계는 체스판 하단판에 자석을 통해 고정되며 사용자의 필요에 따라 독립적으로 사용이 가능하다.
The pawn serves as a hexagonal wrench, with black and white consisting of a set of inches and mm, respectively. Rook serves as a square and triangular wrench, while Bishop functions as a crosshead screwdriver, Knight functions as a flat-blade screwdriver, Queen functions as a hexagonal wrench, and King functions as a U-shaped driver. At the bottom of the tip, the role as a chess object and the role as a tool are schematized through laser imprinting.
폰은 육각렌치의 역할을 수행하며 흑색과 백색은 각각 inch와 mm단위의 세트로 구성되어있다. 룩은 각각 사각, 삼각 렌치의 역할을 수행하며 비숍은 십자 드라이버, 나이트는 일자 드라이버로 기능하며 퀸은 육각별 렌치 그리고 킹은 U자 드라이버의 기능을 수행한다. 팁의 하단에는 체스 기물로써의 역할과 공구로써의 역할이 레이저 각인을 통해 도식되어있다.
The coordinate system on the chessboard performs two functions: a right angle and a straight line. It provides a scale of two units, cm and inch. The handle connecting the tip consists of an I type that is advantageous for performing fast rotation and an L type that is advantageous for applying high torque.
체스판의 좌표계는 변형을 통해 직각자와 직선자의 두가지 기능을 수행할 수 있으며 cm와 inch 두가지의 눈금을 제공한다. 팁을 연결하는 손잡이는 빠른 회전을 수행하는데 유리한 I형과 높은 토크를 가하는데 유리한 L형으로 구성되어있다.
