For this project, we had to first illustrate our Japanese Notan concepts with ink pens. This first concept on the left focused on the contrast between day and night. While, the concept on the right focused on things in nature. 

The concept on the left was based on the night skyline and was the inspiration for my final notan. The inked notan on the right was based on mix of aquatic animals and planets in the sky. 

This is my final Japanese Notan that created using blacking construction paper, an exacto knife, and a glue stick. I think this project shows the contrast between the bright lights of skyscrapers against the night sky.
