Leoshine, Book 1 cover design
For Nicola MacCameron's debut novel released in 2022 by Siretona Creative, I designed the fantasy font, typeset all the text, created the text effects, and modified the painting for use on the cover.
MacCameron named the fantasy font "Tassanara," and it is available in this project's attached source files as a TrueType font installable on any device.
All work was completed on a 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 inch using Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, and iFontMaker for the fantasy font. I exported assets for printing the front, back, and spine and the publisher assembled them in Adobe InDesign.
Nicola's original sketch of the cover was the starting point for Anna Pederson's background painting. Then I developed a RAW photo of the painting and extended the top and sides of the image in Affinity Photo to accommodate the title text and the required margins and bleeds for printing.
In addition to various versions of the cover, marketing assets for Leoshine included typesetting a variety of names and words in Tassanara with a gold metal effect for use in online promotional treasure hunts.
