Working with the rotate tool, I was able to make digital spirographs. To do so, you have to make the object you want to be repeated and make sure it's selected. Once selected hit the 'R' key, place the point of rotation where you please, hold alt and click and drag the object to where you want. After that you can hit/hold ctrl+D to have it go around the point of rotation as much as you want.
