The Crucible, by Arthur Miller

The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, is inspired by the idea of John Proctor finding redemption in this death. Throughout the drama he is trying to get people to see through the lies and find the truth. It is in the end that John Proctor's decision is the light in the confusion of lies. This poster portrays this outcome. The first image that one sees is the candle. This represents John Proctor and his stand against the lies; a light in the darkness. The darkness itself is like the web of lies, closing in and pointing fingers at all who stand against it. The flame of the candle is the negative of a noose. This represents the decision that John Proctor makes. However, among the gloom of the outcome, the light of truth shows through.
