Typographic Booklet: DO YOU WANT TYPOGRAPHY OR DO YOU WANT THE TRUTH

For the typographic booklet below, I dissected and rearranged an article by eric carter I attempted to emulate an editorial magazine-type feel with the layout of the text by taking advantage of negative space and imagery. So as not to bombard the reader with information and provide a clean direct structure of text and imagery. Using a 5-row, a 7-column grid was intended to make the design manageable and leave room for various stylistic choices that wanted to neglect the grid and margin utilized on each page in the form of pull quotes. My use of scale and multiple weights using Nue Hans Grotesk and Helvetica are used across the book's design to create a bold and clean text complimented by negative space. An issue I found myself running into was how to make light fonts stand out against the bold use of Helvetica for my headers. The pull quotes portray a lingering thought.
Pull quotes from the text can be seen as separated and fragmented on the page; this intentionally lets the reader's eye from each end of the page. In addition, it leads to a more prominent single phrase in a more extensive and lighter size at the bottom of the page. Displayed in a Nue Grotesk typeface, the weight change is utilized to contrast the importance of the pull quote in comparison to the bold title headers. This styling technique is used throughout the booklet to emphasize a particular phrase or keyword within the text.
