I love to walk around Frédéric-Back Park. On July 3rd, the weather, the clouds, the flowers, all were perfect and wonderful. I share with you my best pictures taken in a new trail opened this summer. Most of the photos have their original colors. Twice, I published the original photo accompanied by the photo with an adjustment.
Except for the last photo, my photos are in the order they were taken.

In 1947, this area of 192 hectares was a stone quarry. In the 1950s, a cement factory was built there. Then, in 1968, part of the quarry was used as a landfill site until 2009. More than 40 million tons of waste were buried there.

In 1984, the City of Montreal acquired the site. In 1995, a vast construction site began to transform the site into a huge park. Thousands of tons of excavated soil, sand, gravel, composted leaves and wood chips were used.

Inaugurated in 2017, the Frédéric-Back Park is not yet complete. Once work is completed, the park will occupy 153 of the 192 hectares.

I will realize other projects to show you the other trails of this amazing nature park.

The Nature is Magnificent. Good viewing!
"The park’s transformation began in 1995. Today it is one of the most ambitious environmental rehabilitation projects ever seen in a North American urban setting."

These screenshots show the amount of materials used to build this park and the image of the final plan once its transformation is completed. For more information, click on the blue link: Frédéric-Back Park
