Backyard Patio Space

Our client wanted an outdoor patio space that was an extension of their existing covered porch. We used dark colored pavers to match the dark siding and stone on the house. We complimented the dark paving materials with dresser trap rock and onyx colored edging. A natural cedar wood pergola lit up the space and added a natural component.

This patio provides separate – yet combined – spaces. The covered porch provides protection from the elements and privacy. The south side of the patio serves as the lounge area - it includes a gas fire pit and two seat walls. The homeowner added rainbow colored furniture to bring character into the space. The North side of the patio is the dining area - it has two seat walls that provide additional seating and a pergola for shade. The homeowners have placed an outdoor dining table in this space. The center of the patio serves as a walkway from the house to the yard. It also provides additional space for entertainment if needed. To make up for the elevation change, we incorporated a retaining wall, giving the client a “step” off the patio into the yard. To give the client some privacy from the adjacent gravel road, we created a large landscape bed full of evergreens, birch trees, and ornamental grasses. This project also includes a lot of landscape lighting, so it can be viewed and used during the evening hours.
