As humans, we are challenged with facing the separation between the realm of memory and the realm of experience. Our memories are subliminally restructured to fit our current subconscious wants and needs. My series of work focuses on the natural decay of accuracy in human memories. As time goes on, our memories transform from detailed recollections of specific moments to subconsciously manipulated and emotionally packed experiences. A majority of these memories generously lent to me by my peers, as well as a few of my own, are being temporarily immortalized through my work. The work depicts fragments of meaningful memories that vary from joyful life changing events to personal reminders of things that have come to pass. The goal is for the viewer to get an intimate look into the inner workings of average adults and how they currently reflect on certain experiences in their lives. The following works were displayed during my senior art exhibition at Winona State in Spring 2014.

My first attempt was not very successful....
Blender Markers were used as a tool to transfer the ink onto the wood. Time consuming, but worth it.
