emphasising over the motif of type identity and the lasting impact such an evolution made that has vigorously transformed the global design culture over decades, we dive only for 3 days into this process understanding the evolution of Indian type.

प्रागैतिहासः
The evolution of Indian typography can be traced back to the early centuries of the common era,
when the Brahmi script was developed in India. This script, which is considered to be the oldest form of Indian typography,
was used to write a variety of languages, including Sanskrit, Prakrit, and Tamil.
भारतीयमुद्रणशास्त्रस्य विकासः सामान्ययुगस्य आरम्भिकशतकेभ्यः आरभ्य ज्ञातुं शक्यते, यदा भारते ब्राह्मणीलिपिः विकसिता आसीत् ।
भारतीयमुद्रणशास्त्रस्य प्राचीनतमं रूपं मन्यमाणा एषा लिपिः संस्कृत-प्राकृत-तमिल-आदीनां विविधानां भाषाणां लेखनार्थं प्रयुक्ता आसीत् ।
शताब्दशः ब्राह्मणीलिपिः अनेकपरिवर्तनानि भूत्वा गुप्तलिपिः, नागरीलिपिः, कन्नडलिपिः इत्यादयः अनेकाः प्रादेशिकलिप्याः रूपेण विकसिताः ।
एतासां लिपिनां उपयोगेन संस्कृत, हिन्दी, मराठी, कन्नड इत्यादीनां विविधानां भाषाणां लेखनम् अभवत् ।
१९ शताब्द्यां २० शताब्द्याः आरम्भे च भारते मुद्रणयंत्रस्य प्रवर्तनं जातम्, येन मुद्रण-उद्योगस्य महती विस्तारः अभवत् ।
एतेन हिन्दी-आदि-भाषा-लेखनार्थं प्रयुक्ता देवनागरी-लिपि-आदि-रोमन-आधारित-लिपिनाम् प्रयोगः लोकप्रियः अभवत् ।
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the printing press was introduced in India, leading to a significant expansion of
the printing industry. This helped to popularise the use of Roman-based scripts, such as the Devanagari script,
which was used to write Hindi and other languages.
