An independent project that explores a new illustration style, calligraphy, and copywriting. I have always been fascinated by deep sea creatures, and one of the most astounding things about them are their mating displays. I decided to take these bioluminescent creatures and ‘romanticize’ them, creating quirky Valentine’s cards for the offbeat nerdy couple.
For the curious, the featured species are the lantern fish, the firefly squid, and my favorite, the anglerfish. I also printed the cards on a butcher paper; the uneven texture of the paper gives depth to the black, giving the speckled illusion of the deep.
