Social Issues
In this project, I made a three-spread booklet and a poster on the legalization of marijuana in the U.S. I started by compiling research and formatting it into a list of pros (for the legalization of marijuana) and cons (against the legalization of marijuana). I then began making a simple layout that was easy to follow but also showed my love for a more grunge appearance. I am an individual who struggles with anxiety and therefore am for the legalization of marijuana in the U.S. I wanted to make my opinions apparent in the poster without deterring people who may be on the fence about this topic. The dove wings in the poster represent peace, which for those with anxiety and other medical conditions marijuana can provide, and are in the shape of a marijuana leaf. The poster also features a goldenrod field in the background of the dove wings to pay tribute to my home state of Nebraska. Nebraska is a conservative state so I felt making the poster focus on the legalization in Nebraska would help get the point across.
