High School Assignment:
The main principle was to create an album cover that replicated your type of genre of music.
R&B was the genre I was going for and if I was to create an album cover this would be the vision.
If I could redo this project, I would definitely want to try a larger amount of different angles and shot types to see how other photos could have turned out. As I went through this project, I could definitely feel a sense of dissatisfaction because of the other burning ideas in my head leaning towards the shooting process. Initially, I wanted to try and accomplish more styles of shot types and angles such as a photo with my subject upside down on the floor. I will admit, it was sort of difficult to find time to shoot this photoshoot due to the fact that my subject and I are extremely busy and tried our hardest to fit this in our schedule (which I’m extremely happy with). However, because of the tight schedule I wasn’t able to try all the other ideas that I had sketched or planned out beforehand. I would’ve also tried to add more props with that being chewing gum and lip gloss to try to give off a different feel towards the album cover, just to see which aesthetic brings more of my creative power out more. Originally, I wanted to go for a more alternative/indie music style album cover, but as I was beginning to play around with new ideas and features, I found myself also liking my second idea for the album cover. That being more of a modern R&B album cover with a different pose I had taken in some of my thumbnail photos. Overall, I liked the way the photo turned out because it did bring out the ideas I had in my head to life. From this process, I believe that having a set out plan before shooting really impacts the whole vision of the intention, and because of this it helped me incorporate even more creative ideas from the original plan.
