Tunnel Doors TMB Subway L9

TMB - Barcelona Subway - L9 - Tunnel Doors 
Visual representation of the Tunnel compartmentalization doors (PST) of L9 Metro Barcelona, that are unique in the world. Before L9 anyone ever had intended automatically close the tunnel without compromise the operations of trains.

The fixed parts of the tunnel compartmentalization doors are also manufactured from silicate sheets. In addition, at the most critical points of the closure, EPDM and PTFE joints have been used in compliance with DIN-EN 19084. This allows the whole of the PST to withstand 400 ºC for two hours and compartmentalize the smoke on one side.

The doors are moved by a direct-action motor with a frequency converter which is installed alongside the main track, outside the vehicle clearance envelope and protected by a fireproof caisson in the same finish as door. This is equipped with obstacle detection slats on the lower edge up to a height of 2 m across at the maximum height of the trains.
