DESIGN VISION
A new architectural approach that helps village people to know its heritage and raise awareness of the heritage. aiming to change the notion of a craft center as a building, into a series of connected spaces to the surrounding dense urban fabric ,curating the visitor's experience from the mundane, to the spiritual.
The story of the village
El Haga kamla teaches the woman in the village the handicraft. The women of the village produce handicraft products. After that, the men sell these products at fairs. From here came the idea of the project land in the village, The land of the project passes by a waterway  that divides the land into two pieces, one half facing the street and the other half isolated from the street(private zone),The isolated part for the ladies to be out of sight do their wicker craft And the other part facing the street (public zone )for all users has the main exhibition and cultural spaces.

Its design was inspired by the region's architectural traditions and the craft center's unique location  where the village, the form creates a welcoming world serenely combining light and shadow, reflection and calm. all the handicrafts in the village have a central grid of handmade wicker (the shade ) then the woman turns around the wicker to make the handicraft, the second part is (the spaces) behind the shade inspired by the urban fabric in the village.
A vast wicker shade, 100 meters in diameter, covers all the craft center and is visible from the village by the landmark core,  The roof consists of 2 layers of wicker  supported by 36 ribs that are tensile by 36 columns of steel the structure features one compression ring and three tension rings made of materials ,facilitates an almost floating roof. Even in regard to sustainability, this solution beats all conventional roof structures. The spoke cables are  tightened between the rim of the wheel. the structure features one compression ring and three tension rings made of high-performance materials, facilitates an almost floating roof. Even in regard to sustainability, this solution beats all conventional roof structures. The spoke cables are tightened between the rim of the wheel – called the “compression ring” in structural engineering – and the tension rings allocated at the inner edge of the roof. The cables are made of high-strength cables.
