Textile Patterns Inspired By Women of the Avant-Garde

Textile Design
VARVARA is a series of textile patterns inspired by twelve amazing female artists of the avant-garde. My muses for this very personal project, and not only for it, are Varvara Stepanova, Anni Albers, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Hilma af Klint, Aleksandra Ekster, Gunta Stölz, Natalia Goncharova, Lyubov Popova, Sonia Delaunay, Maria Likarz-Strauss, Benita Koch-Otte, and Olga Rozanova.
Each piece is named after one of these outstanding women and represents the result of deep research into their artistic heritage. I did not intend to copy their style in my designs. My idea was to create patterns with a light hint but deep devotion to the art of those outstanding women.
Each pattern is based on a 5x5 square grid. To emphasize this geometry and to add some contrasting details to the patterns I've added colored borders to the designs supposed to be used on silk scarves. The palette of each design is quite limited, so I mostly added colors used on another pattern for contrasting detail.
Thank you!
