Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo ghoul takes place in a society in Japan, where humans and ghouls coexist, but each side fights for their lives. A boy, Ken Kaneki, wanted to live a normal life until he became a ghoul due to an unfortunate accident. Now he's only able to eat other humans or ghouls to survive and become stronger.
This animation was appealing to me because it showed a society that was split, at war with each other. The main protagonist, Ken Kaneki, now faces many obstacles and carries a burden as a ghoul to make peace with humans, including maintaining a human form to still be in connection with his friend. This is also where the national anthem of weebs, Unravel, originated from.
